Weekly Wrap-Up for May 8, 2015

Weekly Wrap-Up :  Second semester of 9th grade

It's strange to homeschool high school.  I keep looking at Emme and I expect her to still be 11-years-old.  Not the girl with purple hair who won't put her i-Pod down.

Next week starts our 2nd semester of 9th grade.  Here's what she'll be doing:

*BJU Geography, Algebra, Biology, Grammar and American History (also watching The Story of Us
*Literature through a series of different books and various websites + some Shakespeare
*Continuing with ASL
*Music appreciation utilizing some of the lessons at All in One High School as well as composer study at Ambleside
*Current Events using the CNN Student News and studying all candidates running for presidential bid

I also want to do this free online First Aid course some time this semester too and even though it won't be a regular daily study, I still  want some nature study using the Handbook of Nature Study, nature walks and nature journal

It looks like a LOT.  Our school days are Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  I work so we have to switch things up to fit my schedule.

This week Em made Monkey Bread with little direction.  She doesn't have a lot of experience in the kitchen, which is why we are doing the home ec course.  She is finishing up "The Great Gatsby" and will do her final book report on Saturday.  She did a page on the earthquake in Nepal as well as one about the situation in Baltimore with Freddie Gray.  She also finished up her computer course on Alice.org and did the three R's.

Well I know most homeschoolers are winding down the year - we are getting ready for round two!

Have a blessed weekend!

Sherry

  1. Love that you are a working parent and flexing your schedule as needed. I'm in the same boat. I'm visiting from weekly wrap up.
